In a significant shift, MV Agusta has announced its departure from KTM AG, regaining full control after over two years of partial ownership by the Pierer Mobility Group. On January 31, the Italian motorcycle manufacturer confirmed that it would once again be under the sole leadership of CEO Timur Sardarov, marking a new chapter for the brand.

Previously, MV Agusta had been 50.1% owned by KTM AG since the spring of 2023. However, financial issues within Pierer Mobility Group—KTM’s parent company—prompted this change. MV Agusta’s official statement highlighted that the recent financial troubles at Pierer Mobility AG had the potential to disrupt MV Agusta’s operations, making the separation necessary to safeguard its growth trajectory.

“Following a strong year for MV Agusta, the unfolding financial situation at Pierer Mobility AG could have had a significant impact on our operations,” the statement read. It further confirmed that MV Agusta will not be part of KTM AG’s ongoing restructuring or its insolvency proceedings, ensuring that the Italian brand can continue its path of positive growth without external interference.

Despite the separation, MV Agusta reassured its global network of dealers that it would be business as usual, with no disruptions expected in its operations or partnerships.

A Renewed Focus for MV Agusta

Agusta

Timur Sardarov, CEO of MV Agusta, expressed pride in the company’s regained independence, emphasizing that the move will empower the brand to further strengthen its position in the motorcycle industry. “This is a moment of pride for all of us at MV Agusta,” Sardarov stated. “Regaining full control of the company means we are now stronger and more focused than ever on delivering excellence.”

Under Sardarov’s leadership, MV Agusta has made substantial improvements in its internal processes, systems, and workforce. The company expects these changes, coupled with the strong results of 2024, to serve as the foundation for its continued success.

Looking ahead, Sardarov expressed full confidence in the leadership team and renewed dealer network, aiming to drive MV Agusta to new heights in the coming years. “My commitment, and that of my family, is to be a vital force for the Varese team, the region, and all our partners,” he said.

MV Agusta’s Future

As MV Agusta transitions back to full autonomy, it remains committed to its longstanding reputation for producing high-performance motorcycles and delivering excellence to its global customer base. The company’s renewed focus on innovation and quality will undoubtedly shape its future as it seeks to further expand its presence in the competitive motorcycle market.
