Franco Morbidelli has shared his perspective on the heated confrontation with Jack Miller during the Spanish MotoGP event.

The incident occurred when Morbidelli attempted to overtake Miller, resulting in both riders ending up in the gravel at Jerez last weekend.

Miller expressed his frustration to Morbidelli as they both recovered from the mishap. Morbidelli acknowledged the tense situation, stating, “The race was not going well for either of us. After you end up on the gravel it’s okay to be angry.”

Offering his view on the incident, Morbidelli described it as an unfortunate racing incident. He explained, “Jack was doing a different line. It was at the end of the race, but I was quite a bit faster than him. But I couldn’t pass him because Jack was braking very fast.”

Morbidelli emphasized that he had no intention of passing Miller in that corner but felt compelled to take his own line due to Miller’s trajectory. Despite their contact, Morbidelli expressed regret over the outcome.

The stewards reviewed the collision and deemed it a racing incident.

Reflecting on his performance in Jerez, Morbidelli expressed disappointment with his start but highlighted the positive aspect of his speed during the race. He noted that despite starting from the back of the group, he showcased competitive pace.

Following the Spanish MotoGP, Morbidelli participated in the Jerez test and emerged with optimism. It marked his first opportunity to test his new bike since joining Pramac from Yamaha last season. Morbidelli’s transition to Pramac was initially hindered by an injury sustained during preseason testing, but there is now optimism regarding his potential with the team.
