Guenther Steiner departs after a decade, Simone Resta exits as well; Ayao Komatsu set to lead the American F1 team

MoneyGram Haas F1 Team, a prominent name in Formula 1, is witnessing a significant change in leadership as Ayao Komatsu assumes the role of Team Principal. This transition marks the departure of Guenther Steiner. Who has been at the helm of the team since its entry into F1 in 2016.

Steiner, one of F1’s longest-serving team principals, bids farewell to MoneyGram Haas F1 Team, making way for Ayao Komatsu. With over two decades in Formula 1. The Japanese engineer began as Chief Race Engineer in 2016, rising to Team Principal.

In his new role, Komatsu will oversee all competition-related aspects of the team, focusing on strategy and on-track performance. With a performance-centric approach, he aims to maximize the team’s potential through employee empowerment and structural efficiency.

To complement Komatsu’s performance-oriented leadership, a Chief Operating Officer based in Europe will be appointed. This role will be responsible for managing non-competition matters and departments, operating from MoneyGram Haas F1 Team’s Banbury facility.

Simone Resta, the Haas F1 Team’s technical director, also departs the squad. With an extensive background at Scuderia Ferrari and Alfa Romeo. Resta had been part of the team’s technological collaboration with Ferrari since 2021.

Gene Haas, Team Owner at MoneyGram Haas F1 Team, expressed gratitude to Guenther Steiner for his decade-long contribution and extended best wishes for his future endeavors. Haas emphasized the need for improved on-track performances, making engineering a focal point in their management approach.

Ayao Komatsu, the newly-appointed Team Principal, conveyed his excitement about leading MoneyGram Haas F1 Team. With a passionate investment in the team’s success since its inception, Komatsu is eager to enhance on-track performances and create a structure that reflects the team’s capabilities.

In a performance-driven business like Formula 1, MoneyGram Haas F1 Team anticipates a new era under Ayao Komatsu’s leadership, aiming to translate enthusiasm and support from stakeholders into improved competitive results.
