Marcus Rashford’s Manchester United Career Heading for an Exit After Latest Setback

Marcus Rashford’s time at Manchester United appears to be nearing its end after two decades at the club, with recent developments suggesting that the 27-year-old forward is ready to move on.

Rashford, who has been with United since the age of seven, has endured a challenging period in recent seasons, with his form dipping significantly. Despite a successful 2022-23 campaign where he scored 30 goals, his performances have been inconsistent, leading to a shift in United’s stance.

Reports earlier this year suggested United were open to offers for almost all of their players, as the club embarks on a major overhaul following years of underperformance and poor recruitment. Although the club didn’t initially list Rashford as a player up for sale, recent events imply that his time at Old Trafford could soon end.

Rashford’s recent comments, stating that he is “ready for a new challenge,” further indicate that he may be seeking an exit, despite having a contract with the club until 2028. This admission aligns with growing speculation that the club could move him on in the near future.

While United remain hopeful about his potential, Rashford’s position appears increasingly tenuous. The decision by new manager Ruben Amorim to omit Rashford from the squad for United’s 2-1 win against Manchester City last Sunday only adds fuel to the fire. The forward, who is the club’s second-highest earner on £300,000 per week, was spotted training at Carrington just hours before the match, fueling speculation about his uncertain future.

Rashford’s
Despite starting the season strong under Amorim, scoring three goals in his first two Premier League appearances, Rashford has failed to maintain that form. He has netted seven goals across all competitions, just one shy of his tally from last season, but has faced criticism for his inability to capitalize on key chances.

Rumors of Rashford’s potential departure first emerged when United reportedly put almost their entire squad up for sale, signaling that they deemed no player untouchable. Rashford’s recent openness about his desire to leave only reinforces the notion that his time at the club is coming to a close.

United, meanwhile, appear ready to test the transfer market, and it seems increasingly likely they will look to cash in on their star forward. Rashford has been a key player for United, amassing 138 goals and 63 assists in 426 appearances, along with two FA Cups, two League Cups, and a Europa League title. However, with both parties seemingly prepared for change, Rashford’s departure looks inevitable, and a move in 2025 is increasingly likely.
