Erling Haaland has penned a record-breaking new contract with Manchester City, committing to the club until 2034 in a deal that will keep the prolific striker at the Etihad Stadium for the next nine and a half years. The 24-year-old Norwegian expressed his joy and pride after signing the extension, which includes a reported weekly salary of £500,000, making it one of the most lucrative contracts in domestic football history.
Haaland, who originally joined City from Borussia Dortmund in summer 2022 and was contracted until 2027, has enjoyed a stunning start to his career in England. The centre-forward has scored 111 goals in just 125 appearances, including an incredible 52 goals in his debut season, helping City secure an historic treble in the 2022-23 campaign.
Reflecting on the contract extension, Haaland stated: “I am super happy and proud. It’s a big moment for me, and it’s difficult to put into words. I’m really looking forward to staying here for a long time. The support I’ve received from the board, the bosses, and Pep [Guardiola] made this an easy decision. I am delighted.”
Haaland has already secured multiple trophies with Manchester City, including two Premier League titles, the FA Cup, the Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup, and the FIFA Club World Cup. Despite this remarkable success, the forward expressed his ambition to continue improving and achieving more with the club.

“I am going to stay for a long time,” Haaland continued. “Now, I can fully focus on improving my game and performing for the fans. It has gone by so quickly, but it has been an amazing journey so far.”
Having been at City for two and a half years, Haaland reminisced about memorable moments, including the emotional treble parade that he considers one of the club’s greatest celebrations. He added: “It feels like I signed just a moment ago. In this short time, we’ve won so many trophies, played great football, and shared so many fantastic moments with the fans. The rainy parade after the treble was one of the best moments.”
Haaland’s decision to commit to Manchester City long-term is a significant boost for the club, which is currently sixth in the Premier League with 35 points, 12 points behind leaders Liverpool. However, the club is also facing legal challenges, with the Premier League bringing over 100 charges against them, which they firmly deny. If authorities find City guilty, potential sanctions could include demotion from the top division, adding further uncertainty to their future.
Nonetheless, Haaland’s commitment to City sends a strong message about his confidence in the club’s long-term vision under Pep Guardiola. Fans will be eager to see what the striker can achieve in the coming years as he continues his remarkable career at one of the world’s top clubs.
