Antony has reportedly turned down a potential transfer to Olympiacos but remains open to leaving Manchester United in search of more playing time. The Brazilian winger, who joined United in 2022 for a significant £86million fee from Ajax, has struggled to meet expectations, contributing just 17 goals across two and a half seasons at Old Trafford.
Since the appointment of Ruben Amorim as manager in November, Antony has not started a single Premier League match. Amid ongoing uncertainty over his future, Spanish outlet ABC Sevilla, as reported by Sport Witness, states that clubs such as Real Betis, Benfica, and Olympiacos are all eager to secure Antony’s services on loan this month.
While both Benfica and Olympiacos have made formal inquiries, the player has reportedly rejected the Greek club’s interest, preferring a move to Real Betis. Antony is awaiting further communication from Manchester United regarding his future, as Betis’ representatives have contacted his camp for the past three weeks. However, Betis’ financial situation could complicate the deal, despite a recent €12million (£10m) sale of Assane Diao to Como providing them with some additional funds.

Betis remains optimistic, citing the recent success of players like Isco, Ayoze Perez, and Giovani Lo Celso, who revived their careers at the club, as a potential draw for Antony. The 24-year-old’s agent, Junior Pedroso, confirmed that several clubs have shown concrete interest in his client’s January move but emphasized that Antony’s future ultimately depends on Manchester United’s plans.
“If the club decides that a loan move is the best option for Antony to regain his form, we will explore that opportunity,” Pedroso told GiveMeSport. “Otherwise, Antony is determined to work hard and prove himself under Ruben Amorim.”
Amorim, who has worked closely with Antony since taking charge, believes that the winger’s struggles are due to a lack of confidence. He said, “Antony needs more belief in himself. *He showed his potential at Ajax, and with more confidence, he can regain that form. He is working hard, and I will help him become a better player.”
