FPL 2025: Is Milos Kerkez a Smart Buy at Liverpool?

Two big transfer trends this summer are already clear — Bournemouth’s defence is being picked apart, and champions Liverpool are getting even stronger. One of the latest moves linking both is the almost-confirmed signing of Milos Kerkez for around £40 million.

The 20-year-old left-back had a breakout season at Bournemouth in 2024/25, starting all 38 Premier League matches and scoring 2 goals with 6 assists. That helped him finish with 134 FPL points, making him the sixth-best defender in the game.

Rising Star with Big Potential

Kerkez was born in Serbia and started his football journey in Austria with Rapid Wien before moving to Győr in Hungary at the age of 16. He caught the eye of AC Milan legend Paolo Maldini, who personally convinced him to join the Italian giants in 2021.

However, he moved to AZ Alkmaar a year later in search of regular game time. It proved to be a smart decision — by the 2022/23 season, he was a regular starter and helped the Dutch club reach the UEFA Conference League semi-finals.

From Bournemouth to Liverpool

Kerkez joined Bournemouth in 2023 and slowly established himself as a key player under manager Andoni Iraola. While his 2023/24 season was underwhelming in FPL (only 59 points), due to limited starts, an own goal, and a red card suspension, he bounced back strongly last season.

Despite a low expected goal involvement (xGI) of just 3.17, Kerkez delivered solid attacking returns. Now, with a move to Liverpool looking imminent, FPL managers are wondering: should he be in your team?

What to Expect in FPL

Joining a strong defensive team like Liverpool could boost his clean sheet potential. If he secures a regular starting spot and keeps contributing in attack, Kerkez might be one of the best-value defenders in FPL this season.
