Oman secured their spot after the tournament’s expansion to eight teams. They finished as runners-up in the 2024 ACC Men’s Premier Cup, losing to the United Arab Emirates in the final. Oman dominated the group stage, securing wins over UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Cambodia. In the semifinals, they convincingly defeated Hong Kong before falling to a 55-run defeat against UAE in the final. Despite this, the top three teams—UAE, Oman, and Hong Kong—qualified for the Asia Cup.

This qualification is historic for Oman, as it marks their first-ever participation in any form of the Asia Cup, including men’s, women’s, and U19 categories. The team also competed in the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in the West Indies, but they struggled, suffering three outright defeats and another in a Super Over against Namibia.

The 2025 Asia Cup will be the 17th edition of the tournament and only the third to be played in a T20I format. With India set to host the event, it will provide a valuable opportunity for teams to fine-tune their squads ahead of the 2026 T20 World Cup. The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) will likely release the tournament schedule in the coming months.
