VR46 Update: Fabio di Giannantonio’s Surgery a Success – Rehab Underway πŸš‘πŸοΈ

VR46 Racing has confirmed that Fabio di Giannantonio underwent successful surgery on Sunday, February 9th in Italy to reduce a fracture in his left collarbone. The injury occurred during a chaotic first day of testing at MotoGP Sepang last Wednesday, when di Giannantonio attempted to showboat with a wheelie. 😬

A statement from the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team read:

β€œSuccessful surgery for Fabio di Giannantonio on Sunday 9th February in Italy, to reduce the fracture in his left collarbone. The rider crashed in the first day of testing at Sepang last Wednesday. Right after his crash, Fabio returned to Italy and reached the private hospital Villa Stuart, where our team, coordinated by Professor Alessandro Castagna, performed the operation on Sunday morning. The surgery was successful, and he will now begin the rehabilitation process immediately. Our goal is for him to be in the best physical condition possible for the first race of the season in Thailand (February 28 – March 2).”

Due to this injury, di Giannantonio will miss this week’s test at Buriram. He will be riding a factory-spec Ducati for the 2025 season. In addition, MotoGP champion Jorge Martin will also be absent from the Buriram test after crashing his Aprilia in Sepang last Wednesday. Both riders face a major challenge as they head into the first race of the season with limited testing on their new machinery. πŸ”§πŸ

As VR46 works to finalize their race packages, fans can look forward to updates on di Giannantonio’s progress and the team’s efforts to overcome these early setbacks. Stay tuned for further news as the season approaches! πŸ’ͺ🏼🏍️✨
