Barcelona Keep Tabs on Olympic Gold Medalist Marc Pubill for Summer Transfer

FC Barcelona continue their search for a new right-back ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window, with Marc Pubill emerging as a key target once again.

Manager Hansi Flick has identified the position as an area in need of reinforcement, with Jules Koundé filling in regularly and Héctor Fort seeing limited game time. Both the sporting management and coaching staff agree that bolstering the right-back role is a priority.

Marc Pubill Remains on Barcelona’s Radar

According to SPORT, Barcelona are still interested in UD Almería’s Marc Pubill, a player they previously attempted to sign in the summer of 2024. The Catalan club had lined up a loan deal with an option to buy, but financial constraints prevented the move from materializing.

Despite the setback, Barcelona have continued monitoring the 21-year-old, keeping communication open with his representatives to ensure he does not commit to another club before the summer.

Pubill, who won gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics with Spain, played alongside current Barcelona stars Pau Cubarsí, Fermín López, and Eric García. This season, he has featured 19 times in the Spanish second division, opting to stay at Almería during the winter transfer window to help them fight for promotion to La Liga before considering a move.

The Spanish U-21 international had already given the green light to join Barcelona last summer, and his agent maintains strong ties with the club, making a potential transfer highly feasible.
