With the Champions Trophy 2025 less than a month away, preparations are in full swing for the tournament’s return after eight years. Pakistan, the host nation, is under immense pressure as key stadiums remain unfinished despite extensive renovation efforts.

PCB in Trouble as Karachi Supervisor Exposes Renovation Issues

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has invested nearly 12 billion PKR in refurbishing Karachi, Rawalpindi, and Lahore stadiums. However, recent visuals suggest significant work is still pending. While the PCB remains confident of completing renovations on time, construction officials have cast doubts over meeting ICC-approved standards.

A source closely monitoring the renovations told PTI, “The stadiums will be ready to host matches, but whether PCB can deliver the world-class experience they promised remains uncertain.” The concerns stem from delays in construction work, with officials blaming the PCB for not releasing funds and equipment on time. Supervisor Chohan expressed frustration, saying, “These delays have made things difficult, yet we face criticism.”

Meanwhile, Pakistan is yet to submit its squad for the Champions Trophy, making them the only team yet to do so. Reports suggest that the PCB is awaiting an update on Saim Ayub’s injury before finalizing the squad. The uncertainty around his fitness has delayed the announcement.

As the countdown to the tournament continues, the PCB faces mounting pressure to ensure venues are ready and the team is prepared for the prestigious event.
