Bournemouth are set to complete the signing of promising 19-year-old defender Julio Soler from Argentine club Lanus for an initial fee of £6.6m. The deal could rise to a total of £11.5m if all performance-related add-ons are met.
Soler, who primarily plays as a left-back, has made 58 appearances for Lanus since his debut in 2022. The Paraguayan-born player, who has represented Argentina at youth level, is regarded as one of the most exciting young talents in South American football.
Bournemouth have moved quickly to secure Soler’s signature, with the player expected to arrive in the UK on Monday to complete the formalities of the transfer. The Cherries are keen to bolster their squad, with Soler set to add depth and competition to their defensive options.
The move comes after a successful weekend for Bournemouth, who secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Everton at the Vitality Stadium. That win saw them maintain their position in seventh place in the Premier League, continuing their strong campaign under manager Andoni Iraola.
Soler’s arrival is expected to enhance Bournemouth’s defensive options as they look to strengthen their squad for the second half of the season.
