Matheus Cunha has sent a direct message to his potential suitors, including Arsenal, following his standout performance in Wolverhampton Wanderers’ 2-0 victory over Manchester United on Boxing Day.
The Brazilian forward continued his excellent form, contributing two goals in the win. After Bruno Fernandes’ red card and Jorgen Strand Larsen’s disallowed goal, Cunha made his mark by scoring directly from a corner. Later, with the game nearly over, Cunha turned provider, setting up Hwang Hee-chan for a second goal and securing Wolves’ second consecutive win.
With numerous clubs, including Arsenal, linked to the 25-year-old, Cunha made it clear where his priorities lie. “I feel so happy to be here,” he said, reinforcing his commitment to Wolves amidst the growing transfer speculation.
Discussing the match, which saw Wolves climb to 17th in the Premier League and out of the relegation zone, Cunha revealed it was his first goal from a corner. “We train it a lot,” he said. “In the first half, we tried, and the goalkeeper saved it, but the second one went in. It felt great to score.”

The striker also shared a heartwarming moment with teammate Hwang, stating, “That’s me as a leader of the team, and I gave it to Channy [Hwang Hee-chan]. It was his first Premier League goal this season. He always says to me, ‘pass to me please,’ so I’m really happy that I could assist him today.”
Cunha’s impressive performance hasn’t gone unnoticed. Since the arrival of Ruben Amorim at Manchester United, and with Arsenal reportedly keen on his services, the forward has attracted significant interest. The Gunners are long-time admirers of Cunha, and while he is not currently their top priority, his continued standout performances could see him become a more prominent target, particularly with injuries to Bukayo Saka and Raheem Sterling increasing the need for reinforcements.
Wolves, meanwhile, have been revitalized under new manager Vitor Pereira, who has been vocal about Cunha’s importance to the team. After the win over United, Pereira praised the Brazilian’s qualities, saying, “I tell him how good he is all the time because he needs to hear that. He’s an amazing player, one of the best I’ve ever worked with. I hope we can keep him for a long time.”
Pereira went on to describe their relationship, saying, “We have a good feeling, I have a good relationship with him. I’m more of a big man with the ball on my chest, and he’s the Brazilian magic. He’s an amazing guy and an amazing football player.”
