Feyenoord manager Arne Slot has expressed his admiration for Ange Postecoglou’s work at Tottenham Hotspur, despite the team’s mixed form this season. With Spurs currently sitting 10th in the Premier League, Postecoglou has faced criticism for his tactical approach, but the Australian has remained steadfast, recently stating, “In tough times, you double down on your principles.”
Arne Slot, who was heavily linked with the Tottenham managerial position in 2023 before opting to stay at Feyenoord, will lead his team to face Spurs this Sunday at 16:30 GMT. He also expressed his support for Tottenham’s journey in the Carabao Cup, where they have reached the semi-finals after a dramatic 4-3 win against Manchester United.
“I hope, hope, hope that Ange wins a trophy — not necessarily the League Cup, but I am a complete fan of his team in the Europa League,” Slot said. “People often focus on trophies, but for me, the style of football is far more important. If he can combine his attacking brand of play with winning a trophy, it would be a huge victory for football as a whole. Then, people might stop questioning whether playing attacking football is too much. How can you play too much attacking football?”

Slot praised Tottenham’s current playing style under Postecoglou, calling it a “privilege” to be a fan of the team at the moment. “The football they are playing is exciting and enjoyable to watch,” he added. “Tottenham are one of the teams capable of beating Manchester City, just like us.”
Tottenham have been one of the most prolific teams in the Premier League this season, scoring 36 goals, second only to Chelsea, while managing seven wins and seven losses from 16 matches. Slot praised the team for their clear identity under Postecoglou, saying, “Ange has given them a strong identity, and every match is a joy to watch. Even when results don’t go their way, they maintain that exciting brand of football.”
As Spurs continue their campaign, Slot’s support for Postecoglou highlights the growing admiration for the manager’s principles and vision, which have brought a refreshing and attacking style to North London.
