Wicketkeeper-batter Amir Jangoo has received his maiden call-up to the West Indies ODI squad for their upcoming three-match series against Bangladesh. Allrounder Justin Greaves also makes a return to the ODI team after missing the series against England in October.

Both players earned selection for their impressive performances in the domestic Super50 ODI tournament, which concluded under unusual circumstances. Neither Barbados Pride nor Jamaica Scorpions appeared for the toss, leading to the forfeiture of the tournament’s final. Jangoo, representing Trinidad & Tobago, was the tournament’s top scorer, amassing 446 runs in seven innings at an average of 89.20, including three fifties and a century. Greaves finished second with 401 runs from five innings at a remarkable strike rate of 133.66, including three consecutive centuries.
West Indies head coach Daren Sammy praised Greaves for his flexibility, stating he can bat anywhere in the top six and bring all-round ability to the squad. He also highlighted Jangoo’s consistency in the Super50 tournament as an asset to their batting unit.
The squad sees the exclusion of Hayden Walsh and Jewel Andrew, who will instead join a regional batting camp in Chennai to focus on improving their play against spin. The rest of the squad remains unchanged, with Shai Hope captaining and Brandon King as vice-captain. The batting lineup includes Evin Lewis, Shimron Hetmyer, Sherfane Rutherford, and Roston Chase, while the fast-bowling unit features Alzarri Joseph, Shamar Joseph, and Jayden Seales.
The ODIs against Bangladesh will be played in Basseterre on December 8, 10, and 12, followed by a three-T20I series from December 16.
