Scott Boland is ready to take on the pink-ball duties in Adelaide, after receiving a late call-up due to Josh Hazlewood’s side strain. Boland, who last played a Test during the 2023 Ashes, feels in a strong position despite not having played much cricket recently. “My body’s feeling really good now, with no niggles,” he said, adding that his preparations for the day-night Test include valuable net sessions with the pink ball.

Australia’s recent loss to India in Perth has led to discussions on individual performances, though Boland remains confident in their plans against Indian batters. “There’s definitely no panic in our change room,” he said, emphasizing the importance of learning from their mistakes but not making drastic changes. Boland noted that India’s bowlers had a longer break between innings, which may have given them an advantage.
The 33-year-old also opened up about his frustrating 15 months, spent mainly on standby due to the dominance of Australia’s main pacers – Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Hazlewood. “I probably thought the opportunity had passed,” he admitted. However, Boland worked hard to stay fit, rehabilitating slowly after an injury last winter to ensure his body was ready when another chance came.
Boland, who averages 20.34 from his ten Test matches, is confident in his ability to perform, particularly in pink-ball cricket. “The pink ball is suited to my style,” he said, referring to his ability to generate seam movement. With Adelaide’s pitch historically favorable for the pink ball, Boland is keen to make his mark in the upcoming Test.
