Healy Out of India Series, Voll Set for Australia Debut

Alyssa Healy will miss Australia’s upcoming three-match women’s ODI series against India because of a knee injury. The series begins on December 5 in Brisbane. Healy’s availability for the following series against New Zealand, starting December 19 in Wellington, remains uncertain.

In Healy’s absence, 21-year-old Georgia Voll has earned her first international call-up following impressive domestic performances. Voll will join Australia’s 13-player squad for the India series, where Tahlia McGrath will take over as captain. McGrath, who previously led during the T20 World Cup, will be supported by Ashleigh Gardner in leadership duties.

Voll’s selection comes after a string of standout innings, including a 98 off 94 for Queensland in the WNCL and scores of 92 off 55 and 97 not out off 56 in the WBBL for Sydney Thunder. Voll is likely to open the batting alongside Phoebe Litchfield, adding youthful energy to an experienced Australian line-up.

“Georgia Voll has shown her potential over several years, and this is a great opportunity for her,” said Shawn Flegler, Australia’s women’s national selector. “She’ll form an exciting partnership with Phoebe Litchfield against a strong Indian side.”

Flegler emphasized that managing Healy’s absence focuses on long-term Ashes preparation, with her fitness for the New Zealand series to be reassessed soon. The squad also includes Sophie Molineux and Darcie Brown, despite recent injuries. Fast bowler Tayla Vlaeminck, however, will miss the rest of the summer after undergoing shoulder surgery.
