Top-ranked strawweight contender Tatiana Suarez will have to postpone her anticipated return to the octagon because an undisclosed health issue forced her out of her upcoming fight against Virna Jandiroba at UFC 310, scheduled for December 7 in Las Vegas. Sources confirmed to MMA Fighting on Monday that Suarez is dealing with a health issue that prevents her from competing in what was expected to be a crucial No. 1 contender bout at 115 pounds. This news was first reported by MMA Melotto.
This latest setback disappoints Suarez, who many have long viewed as a potential future champion in the UFC. Unfortunately, ongoing health issues have marred her career. After decisively defeating Nina Nunes in 2019, Suarez seemed poised for a title shot; however, a series of injuries kept her out of action for over three years.
Upon her return, Suarez made a significant impact by submitting Montana De La Rosa at flyweight and then earning a Performance of the Night bonus for her impressive victory over former UFC champion Jessica Andrade in August 2023. With her momentum building, Suarez planned to face Amanda Lemos in February, but an injury caused her to withdraw from that matchup.
Now, with her fight against Jandiroba also canceled, Suarez’s timeline for a return to competition remains uncertain. As for Jandiroba, it is unclear whether she will remain on the UFC 310 card to face a new opponent or if she will wait for a future date to compete.
Fans and analysts alike will be watching closely for updates on Suarez’s condition and future plans as she aims to return to the octagon and pursue her championship aspirations.
