Mohammad Rizwan Expected to Take Over as Pakistan’s White-Ball Captain from Babar Azam, According to Reports.

Emerging reports indicate that experienced wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan is set to replace Babar Azam as Pakistan’s new white-ball captain. According to the Press Trust of India, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) plans to officially announce Rizwan as the captain for both the ODI and T20I formats ahead of the team’s upcoming series against Australia, Zimbabwe, and South Africa.

In recent discussions, Pakistan’s selectors convened with PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi and white-ball coach Gary Kirsten regarding the captaincy decision. A reliable source indicated that Rizwan stands out as the leading candidate to replace Babar, citing his seniority and dependability as a keeper-batter. The source emphasized, “Rizwan is a front runner for the white-ball captaincy due to his experience leading teams effectively in domestic cricket and the PSL.”

Selectors plan to include Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Naseem Shah in the white-ball squad after resting them for the recent Test series against England.

Rizwan’s credentials as a player are impressive. He has excelled in white-ball cricket, scoring 2,088 runs in 67 ODI innings, including three centuries and thirteen half-centuries. Furthermore, in T20Is, he has accumulated 3,313 runs at an average of 48.72, which makes him one of Pakistan’s most reliable batters.

Beyond his batting prowess, Rizwan has also showcased his leadership skills with Multan Sultans in the Pakistan Super League. With his strategic mindset and inspirational leadership, Rizwan can elevate Pakistan’s performance on the international stage.
