Bayern Munich and Manchester City Keep Winning Streak Alive in Women’s Champions League

Bayern Munich and Manchester City both secured their second consecutive victories in the Women’s Champions League on Wednesday, showcasing their dominance in their respective groups.

Bayern Munich triumphed 2-0 against Juventus in a rain-soaked match, rebounding from their first defeat in nearly two years in the German league just days prior. The match saw Bayern forward Pernille Harder continuing her impressive form, scoring the second goal late in the game. Harder capitalized on a loose ball in the goalmouth after a corner in the 73rd minute, following Linda Dallman’s volleyed opener in the 17th minute.

Meanwhile, Manchester City edged past St. Pölten with a thrilling 3-2 victory. After a convincing 2-0 win over two-time defending champions Barcelona last week, City faced some adversity during the match. Alanna Kennedy opened the scoring with a powerful 25-yard shot just five minutes into the game, but St. Pölten responded well, equalizing in the 40th minute through Melanie Brunnthaler, who converted a close-range effort following a corner.

St. Pölten then took the lead in the 53rd minute when Czech midfielder Kamila Dubcová executed a brilliant volley from a tight angle. However, Manchester City quickly responded, leveling the score just four minutes later with a goal from Aoba Fujino, who struck a looping cross with a first-time shot.

The decisive moment came in the 80th minute when Mary Fowler scored the winning goal with a header from a corner, securing all three points for City.

In other matches on Wednesday, Barcelona hosted Hammarby, while Arsenal faced Vålerenga at home, with fans eagerly anticipating further exciting action in the tournament.

As the Women’s Champions League continues, Bayern Munich and Manchester City both look poised to make a strong impact, maintaining their winning momentum as they progress through the group stages.
