The Haas Formula 1 team has officially announced a technical partnership with Toyota Gazoo Racing, the motorsport division of the Japanese automotive giant. This collaboration marks a significant step for the American-owned team as they aim to enhance their performance in the highly competitive world of Formula 1.
Partnership Details
Under this agreement, Toyota will become Haas’s Official Technical Partner, providing a wealth of design, technical, and manufacturing services to the F1 team. In exchange, Haas will share its expertise and commercial benefits, fostering a mutually beneficial relationship aimed at improving both parties’ capabilities in the sport.
Key areas of collaboration include:
- Driver and Engineer Involvement: Toyota Gazoo drivers, engineers, and mechanics will participate in Haas F1 tests, allowing them to experience the intricacies of modern grand prix racing firsthand.

Toyota’s Motorsport Experience
Toyota Gazoo Racing is already an established player in various motorsport arenas, including the World Rally Championship, the World Endurance Championship, and the World Rally-Raid Championship. The team is based in Cologne, Germany, which houses two rolling road wind tunnels. This facility previously served as the headquarters for Toyota’s F1 team, which operated from 2002 to 2009 before exiting the series without a race victory.
Branding and Team Response
Beginning with the upcoming United States Grand Prix, the branding of Toyota Gazoo Racing will prominently feature on the Haas F1 cars driven by Nico Hülkenberg and Kevin Magnussen.

Haas team principal Ayao Komatsu expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, emphasizing its potential to elevate the team’s standing in the competitive F1 landscape. “I’m hugely excited that MoneyGram Haas F1 Team and Toyota Gazoo Racing have come together for this technical partnership,” he stated. “Having a world leader in the automotive sector support our organization while we develop our technical and engineering expertise presents clear benefits for both sides.”
Komatsu highlighted the partnership’s strategic significance, stating, “The resources and knowledge available at Toyota Gazoo Racing will be instrumental in our development and competitiveness in Formula 1.” Furthermore, this collaboration paves the way for future growth and strengthens our position within the sport.
Furthermore, he confirmed that the partnership had received the endorsement of Haas’s long-term partner, Ferrari, which supplies the team with engines, gearboxes, and other critical components. Earlier this year, Haas also extended its agreement to utilize Ferrari’s wind tunnel facilities in Maranello.
Benefits for Toyota Gazoo Racing
Tomoya Takahashi, president of Toyota Gazoo Racing, shared his optimism regarding the collaboration, stating, “By competing alongside MoneyGram Haas F1 Team at the pinnacle of motorsports, we aim to cultivate drivers, engineers, and mechanics while enhancing the capabilities of both our teams. Our goal is to make meaningful contributions to motorsports and the automotive industry.”
