Raipur, September 24 (Team News Riveting) — In a significant development for the basketball community in Chhattisgarh, Pitambar Gupta and Sumit Upadhyay have been unanimously elected as the President and General Secretary, respectively, of the Chhattisgarh Pradesh Basketball Association.
The election became necessary following the passing of the former General Secretary and the vacancies left in the association. A crucial meeting of the Chhattisgarh Pradesh Basketball Association’s Executive Committee was held on Sunday in Raipur, where state executive members and representatives from district associations were present.
The primary agenda of the meeting was to fill the vacant positions in the association and to restructure the management. The committee also discussed the recognition and representation of each district, municipal corporation, and affiliated institutions. With the consensus of all attending members, the existing executive committee was dissolved, and a new committee was formed.
During the proceedings, Anil Pusadkar proposed Pitambar Gupta for the role of President and Sumit Upadhyay for General Secretary. Both nominations were met with unanimous approval, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the association’s leadership.
Several prominent figures from the basketball and business communities were in attendance, including Chhattisgarh Chamber of Commerce President Amar Parwani, Naresh Daklia, Anil Pusadkar, Pramod Singh, Rajesh Pandey, and Senior NIS Coach Sudhir Rajpal, among others. International basketball player Lumendra Sahu and other notable personalities such as Rajendra Tamboli, Vishnu Pandey, Anju Joshi, and Abbas Alam also participated in the meeting, showing strong support for the newly elected leadership.
With the new executive committee in place, the Chhattisgarh Basketball Association is set to focus on advancing basketball in the region and fostering talent at all levels, under the guidance of its newly appointed leaders.
