Fabio Di Giannantonio Eyes Aragon MotoGP Comeback After Injury Setback

Fabio Di Giannantonio is gearing up for a return to action at the Aragon MotoGP this weekend after a dislocated left shoulder forced him to withdraw from the Austrian Grand Prix during Friday practice. The Italian rider, who recently secured a two-year deal with Ducati Corse to ride a factory-spec bike for VR46. Has focused on an intensive rehabilitation program in hopes of getting back on track.

Following a busy week of medical assessments, rigorous training, and physiotherapy, Di Giannantonio expressed cautious optimism about his recovery. He must still pass the MotoGP medical check on Thursday to confirm his participation.

“It’s been a hectic week with all the medical checks, training, and physio sessions. I feel much better now, but the real test will be on the bike,” Di Giannantonio said. “My arm mobility is nearly back to normal, though we’re still working on building strength. Watching the race from home was tough, and I’m eager to get back out there. We’ve done everything possible to ensure I’m ready, and now it’s just about passing the final check to fully focus on the race weekend at one of the most unique tracks on the calendar.”

Di Giannantonio’s absence from the Red Bull Ring saw him lose his eighth place in the world championship standings to Aprilia’s Aleix Espargaro. Meanwhile, his VR46 teammate Marco Bezzecchi heads to Aragon with momentum. Following a sixth-place finish in Austria, matching his best result outside the Jerez podium.

Bezzecchi described Aragon as a unique circuit with a mix of characteristics all packed into one track. “I didn’t race here last year, so understanding the current tarmac conditions will be crucial. Historically, I haven’t achieved much here despite often being fast, but we’re in a positive phase of growth and development with the bike. My goal is to maintain consistency and close the gap to the top riders.”

Bezzecchi, who will join the factory Aprilia team in 2025, currently holds the eleventh position in the world championship standings. As both riders aim to make their mark at Aragon, Di Giannantonio’s potential return adds an exciting layer to the race. As he hopes to bounce back strong and regain his championship position.
