Rumors about Jay Shah becoming the next ICC Chairman are proving to be true. As Greg Barclay prepares to step down as chairperson, many view BCCI Secretary Jay Shah as the leading candidate for the role.

Jay Shah Set to Become ICC Chairman with Full Support from Australia and England

According to The Age, both the Australian Cricket Board (ACB) and the England Cricket Board (ECB) have fully backed Shah, believing he is the right person to lead the ICC for the next three years. This support from two of the most influential cricket boards, alongside BCCI, significantly boosts Shah’s chances of securing the position.

An earlier report indicated that if Shah runs in the ICC election in December, he is expected to secure a unanimous appointment as Chairman. However, if another candidate emerges, an election will take place to ensure a democratic process. Should no one oppose, Jay Shah will officially assume the role on December 1, 2024.

Shah’s potential appointment could also impact the hosting rights of the Champions Trophy, as he has advocated for a hybrid model for the event. However, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has recently denied these rumors. With overwhelming support, it appears unlikely that Shah will face any significant competition for the ICC Chairman position.
