Next Generation Cup 2024: Punjab FC and Aston Villa FC to Kick Off Exciting Tournament

The Next Generation Cup 2024 will commence on August 1 at the Aston Villa FC Training Ground in Tamworth, UK. This year’s tournament features three teams from India and one from South Africa, competing in a high-stakes showcase of young talent.

Tournament Details

The matches will be held at the Aston Villa FC Training Ground, renowned for its extensive facilities including more than eight football pitches. The tournament runs from August 1 to August 4, with the finals scheduled at Loughborough University Stadium.

August 1st – Thursday

• 10:00 AM (2:30 PM IST): Punjab FC, the Reliance Foundation Development League (RFDL) champions, will face Aston Villa. Simultaneously, Everton will play against Muthoot FA, the third-placed team from the RFDL.
• 3:00 PM (7:30 PM IST): Crystal Palace will go head-to-head with East Bengal FC, the RFDL runners-up, while Stellenbosch FC takes on Tottenham Hotspur FC. Stellenbosch FC won the Midlands group title in the 2022 Next Generation Cup, while Tottenham Hotspur will look to bounce back after a disappointing 2022 performance.

August 2nd – Friday

• 10:00 AM (2:30 PM IST): Muthoot FA will battle Crystal Palace on one pitch, and Aston Villa will face Stellenbosch FC on the other.
• 3:00 PM (7:30 PM IST): East Bengal will challenge Everton, and Tottenham Hotspur will compete against Punjab FC.

Teams will play daily, adding pressure with quick turnarounds between games. Performance in these matches will determine their standings and progression in the tournament.

August 3rd – Saturday

• 3:00 PM (7:00 PM IST): Tottenham Hotspur will face Muthoot FA. Crystal Palace will play against Stellenbosch FC at the same time. The final group-stage fixtures include Aston Villa versus East Bengal and Everton versus Punjab FC at 6:00 PM (10:30 PM IST).

The top eight teams will advance to the knockout stages, with the top two teams from the group stage competing in the Grand Final to claim the Next Generation Cup title.

August 4th – Sunday The final day will feature:

• 10:00 AM (2:30 PM IST): 7th vs. 8th place play-off, and 5th vs. 6th place play-off.
• Noon: Third place match.
• 4:00 PM (8:30 PM IST): The Grand Final to determine the champion of the 2024 Next Generation Cup.
