The 26-year-old boxer, known as “The Piranha,” boasts an undefeated professional record of 15-0, but his journey to success has faced numerous challenges.
Garner has interrupted his career with several injuries and a serious incident in 2017 when he crashed into a parked car while driving under the influence. As a result, the British Boxing Board of Control suspended him, ordered him to perform unpaid work, and imposed a driving ban.
Reflecting on the past, Garner told, “I got led down a wrong path. Since then, my daughter has been born, and I have another on the way. That’s kept me focused and grounded.”
He acknowledged his previous mistakes, saying, “I was very young at the time of that incident, and now I’m a lot more mature. I do everything for my family’s future now. If I didn’t sort my life out, I don’t know what I’d do, so I’m glad I have.”
The Southampton fighter has concentrated on rebuilding his career, earning a loyal fanbase in his city. And continuing to impress with a series of victories, including eight knockouts.
On Saturday, Garner will fight at the O2 Arena for the first time, defending his WBC international super-featherweight title against Archie Sharp, who boasts an impressive record of 25-0. The fight will be part of the undercard for the heavyweight clash between Joe Joyce and Derek Chisora.
Garner said, “This is the biggest test for me by far.” “I think I’m coming into my peak now, and I’m ready to start delivering strong performances.”
Looking ahead, Garner aims to seize the opportunity to fight on major platforms, with aspirations of headlining big shows and securing substantial paydays to support his family. “After this fight, a lot of doors can open for me,” he noted. “I want to be on these big shows with the Saudis and Frank [Warren]. Those big fights come with big paydays, which can set my family up. It’s where I want to be.”

Signed with Frank Warren’s Queensberry Promotions, Garner is preparing to fight 10-rounds for only the second time in his career. He trains with Wayne Batten at a gym adjacent to Southampton FC’s St Mary’s Stadium. Where he remains a passionate supporter. Garner even customized his boots with the club’s crest and colors for his last fight.
He has expressed his desire to one day headline an event at St Mary’s Stadium. “I look at it every morning when I drive past on the way to the gym; I want to be there,” Garner said. “I need to get through Archie Sharp, and then that pathway is still there for me.”
