FIFA Rankings: Argentina Leads, India Holds Steady at 124th

In the latest FIFA men’s rankings released on Thursday, India maintained its position at 124th despite recent challenges, while Argentina, the reigning Copa America champions and World Cup holders, continued to dominate at the top of the rankings.

India’s national football team retained its 124th spot after recent setbacks in the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers, where losses to Qatar and Afghanistan saw them drop three places from the previous rankings in June. The team had reached its peak last year by breaking into the top 100 with a ranking of 99 but has since faced a downward trend.

In the Asian region, holds the 22nd position, trailing behind Lebanon, Palestine, and Vietnam.

Argentina strengthened its position at the summit after successfully defending its Copa America title, with France maintaining its second place following a strong showing in EURO 2024, where they reached the semifinals.

Spain climbed five spots to third place after winning the European Championship, while England, as runners-up, moved up to fourth, overtaking Brazil, who slipped to fifth place.

Belgium dropped to sixth, with the Netherlands and Portugal closely following in seventh and eighth positions, respectively. Colombia’s impressive return to the top 10, climbing three places to ninth, reflected their performance despite a narrow loss to Argentina in the Copa America final.
