The upcoming Major League Cricket (MLC) season encounters an early setback as New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell misses out due to injury. Mitchell’s franchise, Texas Super Kings, has swiftly replaced him with Afghan spinner Noor Ahmad.
Mitchell, a key overseas signing, struggled with form and injuries, managing only 36 runs in the T20 World Cup 2024 before New Zealand’s early exit. His absence follows a stint with Chennai Super Kings in the IPL that failed to meet expectations.
In place of Mitchell, Texas Super Kings have enlisted 19-year-old Noor Ahmad, known for his left-arm wrist spin and T20 experience with Afghanistan. Ahmad has already made his mark in international cricket and various T20 leagues.
Even without Mitchell, Texas gains strength from the addition of Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis, who recently topped the T20I all-rounder rankings. Stoinis joins a formidable lineup ahead of their first match against LA Knight Riders on July 6.
The 2024 MLC season promises excitement from July 6-29, showcasing teams like Texas Super Kings with their strengthened squad.
