Newcastle winger Anthony Gordon has expressed his desire for England team-mate Marc Guehi to join him at the Magpies this summer.
Guehi, who plays as a defender for Crystal Palace, made an impressive tournament debut for England during their victory over Serbia at Euro 2024. The 23-year-old contributed to a clean sheet in only his 12th international appearance, stepping in admirably after Harry Maguire was omitted from the squad.
Known for his solid performances, Guehi has attracted interest from several clubs, including Newcastle, Arsenal, Manchester United, and Liverpool, following a successful season with Palace under manager Oliver Glasner.
Gordon, who has previously played alongside Guehi for England’s Under-21 team, spoke highly of his compatriot’s abilities and believes Newcastle would benefit significantly from his arrival.
“He is top,” Gordon stated in an interview with TalkSport. “He’s such a good player. I was glad the nation got to see him shine on that stage because he is such a lovely guy, and he deserves what is coming to him.
“I thought he was unbelievable in that game, considering his height compared to the strikers they had on. He won every header, he was aggressive, intercepting loads, and his main strength is his composure on the ball, he’s like a midfielder, so him and Stones at the back is a great partnership.
“I haven’t seen the Newcastle links, but it goes without saying I would love him to come, as I think he’s a top, top player and he would make us a better team.”

Reports suggest that Guehi could command a fee around £65 million, reflecting his growing reputation. Gordon is not alone in his admiration for the defender, as Jude Bellingham also praised Guehi’s performance following the match against Serbia.
“He was brilliant. Brilliant,” Bellingham commented. “He picked the lines amazingly. He led against two, for me, really good centre-forwards at this level in [Dusan] Vlahovic and [Aleksandar] Mitrovic, two really, really tricky customers. It will help a lot when he has [John] Stones beside him, one of the best around. He was fantastic.”
Guehi’s potential move to Newcastle could bolster their defensive lineup significantly, as Gordon and others recognize his impact both on and off the pitch.
