Pakistan, after electing to bowl first, restricted Canada to 106/7 in 20 overs, with Mohammad Amir leading the attack with 2/13 in his 4 overs. The batting lineup chased the total comfortably, with Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam scoring run-a-ball 53* and 33 respectively.

Babar revealed their initial plan was to chase down the total within 14 overs to boost their net run rate. “We needed this win. We started well with the ball in the powerplay andWe had planned to chase this total in 13-14 overs, but the ball was not coming on properly in the powerplay,” said the Pakistan skipper.

Commenting on the pitch, their strategy for the next match, and his own dismissal, Babar added, “It was a two-paced wicket, so it took time to settle. We’ll maintain the same mindset for the next game. The pitch in Florida is better than this one. I got out twice playing the same shot, so I was a bit frustrated.”

Pakistan will face Ireland in their final group stage match at Central Broward Regional Park Stadium, Lauderhill, Florida, on June 16. They hope for the USA to lose both remaining games against India and Ireland to qualify for the Super Eights based on net run rate.
