USA vs PAK Highlights: USA Wins Thrilling Super Over in T20 World Cup

USA clinched a thrilling Super Over victory against Pakistan in their T20 World Cup match in Texas on Thursday. Chasing 160 runs, USA matched Pakistan’s score of 159/7, thanks to Monank Patel’s 50 off 38 balls. Mohammad Amir, Naseem Shah, and Haris Rauf each took a wicket for Pakistan. Nosthush Kenjige’s three wickets and Saurabh Netravalkar’s two helped USA dominate the first innings, with Babar Azam top-scoring for Pakistan with 44 off 43 balls.

In the Super Over, USA scored 18/1 with Aaron Jones contributing 11 off 6 balls. Pakistan managed only 13/1, with Netravalkar taking a wicket for USA.

After the match, USA captain Monank Patel praised his team’s performance, especially their bowling in the first six overs. “Winning the toss and the way we bowled in the first 6 overs, we took wickets and kept them quiet. We knew we were in the game with 160 to chase, just needed a partnership. Playing in a World Cup, you don’t get a chance to do it every year. We were fully committed every single ball,” he said.

Losing skipper Babar Azam acknowledged their shortcomings, particularly in the initial overs. “First 6 overs while batting we didn’t capitalize. Back-to-back wickets always put you on the back foot. We were not up to the mark in the first 6 overs with the ball. Our spinners also did not take wickets in the middle overs so these things cost us. Very hard, all credit to USA, they played better than us in all three departments,” he admitted.
