Tasmania Announces Squad Changes for 2024-25 Season

Tasmania Cricket has made significant alterations to its squad for the upcoming 2024-25 season, with notable departures and arrivals shaping the team’s composition.

Paddy Dooley, who joined Tasmania from Queensland for the previous season and showcased commendable performances in the Marsh Cup, has been omitted from the contract list. The Tigers’ focus on bolstering their spin department led to the recruitment of Test spinner Matthew Kuhnemann and talented off-spinner Raf MacMillan, leaving no space for Dooley. Notably, Dooley’s exclusion comes alongside retired players Matthew Wade and Sam Rainbird.

The addition of Matthew Kuhnemann, an experienced left-arm orthodox spinner with international credentials, adds depth to Tasmania’s bowling arsenal. Meanwhile, the acquisition of Raf MacMillan from New South Wales follows his outstanding displays in the Under-19 World Cup. Where he played a pivotal role in Australia’s triumph, showcasing both his bowling prowess and batting skills under pressure.

Tasmania has also secured the services of promising fast bowler Will Prestwidge from Queensland, enhancing their pace bowling options for the upcoming season.

Expressing his satisfaction with the squad changes, Tasmania coach Jeff Vaughan emphasized the team’s commitment to elevating their performance in all facets of the game. Despite the success witnessed last season, Vaughan highlighted the continuous strive for improvement and expressed confidence in the newly recruited players to contribute positively to Tasmania’s quest for further success.
