Thiago Silva, the esteemed defender, has confirmed his departure from Chelsea at the end of the current season as his contract comes to a close.
Since joining Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2020, the 39-year-old Brazilian has left an indelible mark on the club, making over 150 appearances and contributing significantly to major triumphs, including the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup victories.
Speculation had surrounded Silva’s future in recent weeks, with his contract set to expire soon. Now, both Silva and Chelsea have officially announced his impending departure at the conclusion of the 2023/24 campaign.
In a heartfelt message shared on the club’s official website, Silva expressed his deep appreciation for Chelsea and its supporters: “Chelsea means a lot to me. What started as a one-year plan turned into four incredible years. It’s not just a club for me; it’s a family affair, with my sons also part of the Chelsea setup. Witnessing them thrive here fills me with immense pride.”

Reflecting on his time at Chelsea, Silva emphasized his commitment and gratitude: “Throughout my tenure, I’ve given my all in every aspect. But as with all journeys, there comes a time for closure. Yet, this isn’t a definitive end. I hope to keep the door ajar for a potential return in a different capacity.”
Silva expressed profound gratitude for the support and affection he received from fans: “The love and respect I’ve received, especially during challenging times, have left an everlasting impression on me. It’s incredibly difficult to bid farewell, especially when the bond between club and player is so profound. But as they say, ‘once a Blue, always a Blue.'”
Acknowledging the pivotal role played by former manager Frank Lampard in his integration into the squad. Silva described his time at Chelsea as a dream come true: “To achieve such remarkable success. Including lifting the prestigious Champions League trophy, surpasses even my wildest dreams. Farewells are for those who depart and never return. I fully intend to return one day.”
As Silva prepares to depart, he leaves behind a legacy of professionalism, leadership, and unwavering dedication to Chelsea Football Club.
