While Cal Crutchlow is absent from the upcoming Spanish MotoGP, where fellow test riders Dani Pedrosa (KTM). Stefan Bradl (Honda), and Lorenzo Savadori (Aprilia) are set to compete. Yamaha has revealed plans for three wild-card entries for the English rider.
Crutchlow, a triple MotoGP race winner, will mark his competitive debut in 2024 with a wild-card entry at Mugello from May 31 to June 2. Following the Italian Grand Prix, an official test session is scheduled.
The British rider will also delight fans with return to action at British MotoGP held at Silverstone in early August. As well as at the San Marino round at Misano in September, which includes a Monday test session.
With Yamaha having six wild-card opportunities under the revised concessions. It remains to be seen if Crutchlow will also participate in any of the flyaway rounds.
Yamaha announced on social media, “[Cal Crutchlow] will participate in the Italian GP, British GP, and San Marino GP as a wild card! He aims to gather extra data to support Yamaha in their bike development mission.”
Although Crutchlow won’t be part of Monday’s official test at Jerez, where Monster Yamaha riders Fabio Quartararo and Alex Rins will assess new parts developed in private tests, his contributions to the M1’s development have been significant.
