Former Indian captain MS Dhoni continues to be a magnet for fans in the ongoing IPL 2024 season, emerging as one of the tournament’s biggest attractions. His electrifying presence even translates to viewership records. Reports suggest that during his recent dazzling cameo against the Mumbai Indians (MI), over 6 crore viewers tuned in, setting new IPL viewership benchmarks.

The excitement isn’t just confined to the online world. The energetic vibe in IPL 2024 stadiums often goes above 100 decibels, especially when Dhoni comes out to play, showing how much people love him.

However, amidst this adulation, a disturbing trend has emerged on social media. Nefarious individuals are impersonating the legendary CSK wicketkeeper-batsman to exploit his loyal fan base.
One such recent online scam involved a fraudster posing as MS Dhoni on Instagram, soliciting money from unsuspecting fans. A screenshot of this deceptive message circulated widely on X (formerly Twitter), garnering over three lakh views and serving as a cautionary tale for Dhoni’s devoted followers.
Meanwhile, the cricketing icon himself is currently concentrating on his on-field performance. Dhoni is in Chennai, gearing up for the Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) upcoming match against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the iconic Chepauk Stadium on April 28th.
Dhoni’s on-field contributions in IPL 2024 have been noteworthy. He has amassed a total of 91 runs at an impressive strike rate of 260. It’s important to remember that last month, Dhoni stepped down as the CSK captain, passing the torch to the young and promising Ruturaj Gaikwad. Under Gaikwad’s leadership, CSK presently holds the fifth position on the IPL 2024 points table.
