Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) clinched their second victory of the IPL 2024 season with a convincing 35-run win over the struggling Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Electing to bat first, RCB posted a formidable total of 206/7 in their allotted 20 overs, thanks to stellar performances by young guns Rajat Patidar and Cameron Green.

Patidar, emerging as the hero of the match, smashed a rapid fifty off just 20 balls, featuring a flurry of boundaries (2) and towering sixes (5). This explosive knock included a remarkable feat of hitting four consecutive sixes off the bowling of SRH’s spinner, Mayank Markande.
Green, batting at number four, remained unbeaten on a crucial 37-run knock from 20 deliveries, providing valuable support to Patidar in the middle order.
SRH’s chase faltered from the outset as their key player, Travis Head, failed to provide his usual aggressive start. Despite a valiant effort from Abhishek Sharma, who scored a quickfire 31 runs off just 13 balls, the Hyderabad-based team lacked the momentum to chase down the imposing target. Further failures from Markram and Klaasen only compounded SRH’s woes, ultimately leading to a convincing victory for RCB.
Patidar, rightfully adjudged as the Player of the Match, reflected on his match-winning knock, emphasizing his focus on staying in control and maintaining a technically sound batting approach against all bowlers.
This win, however, keeps RCB rooted at the bottom of the points table. Nevertheless, with five crucial matches remaining in the season, they still hold onto the hope of making it to the playoffs. Their next challenge comes against the strong Gujarat Titans in their upcoming fixture.
