Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) skipper Pat Cummins opened up about his experiences and aspirations for the ongoing IPL 2024 season in a recent interview with Star Sports. Leading the Orange Army for the first time, Cummins is determined to navigate the team out of their current seventh-place position in the IPL 2024 points table.
Despite the team’s current standing, Cummins remains optimistic about securing a coveted top 4 finish, a feat SRH hasn’t achieved since 2021. This objective adds a layer of intrigue to their upcoming crucial encounter against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
While acknowledging the strategic brilliance of former CSK captain MS Dhoni, Cummins emphasizes his leadership philosophy, which prioritizes fostering a team environment where each player can thrive and contribute to their full potential. His approach leans towards empowering his players and fostering a collaborative spirit, rather than solely focusing on outsmarting tactical veterans like Dhoni.
Cummins acknowledges the immense pressure that comes with playing in the high-octane IPL, especially with passionate fans eagerly awaiting victories. He emphasizes his team’s unwavering commitment to giving their all on the field, embracing the unpredictable nature of T20 cricket, and accepting both triumphs and setbacks as part of the journey.
As the crucial match against CSK approaches, Cummins and the entire SRH unit aim to secure their second win of IPL 2024 and bounce back from recent setbacks. This candid interview sheds light on Cummins’ leadership style and his unwavering belief in his team’s potential to climb the ranks and achieve a top 4 finish in IPL 2024.
