Matt Henry has joined the Lucknow Super Giants’ (LSG) squad in the IPL 2024 as a replacement for England all-rounder David Willey, who withdrew from the tournament due to personal reasons. LSG signed the New Zealand pacer, renowned for his pace and accuracy, at his base price of INR 1.5 crore. Henry brings a wealth of experience to the team, having played 25 Tests, 82 ODIs, and 17 T20 Internationals for New Zealand.
Henry, who formerly featured for Punjab Kings and Chennai Super Kings in the IPL, will enhance LSG’s bowling attack with his impressive track record. With 151 wickets in 131 T20 matches and a commendable average and economy rate, he has proven his effectiveness in the format. Additionally, his performance in Test cricket and ODIs further solidifies his credentials as a valuable asset for the team.
Despite suffering a comprehensive defeat in their opening match against Rajasthan Royals, LSG is gearing up to face the Punjab Kings in their next fixture. With notable contributions from players like Nicholas Pooran and KL Rahul, LSG aims to bounce back and secure a victory in their upcoming match at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow. On the other hand, Punjab Kings will be looking to recover from their recent loss against Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
