The upcoming IPL 2024 season promises an exciting lineup of matches, with Ahmedabad and Chennai hosting key fixtures. Ahmedabad will host the first qualifier on May 21 and the eliminator on May 22, while Chennai will see the second qualifier on May 24 and the final match on May 26 at the iconic Chepauk stadium. This marks Chennai’s return as a final host after 12 years, with its last hosting in 2012.

The league phase, beginning April 8, will feature 52 matches, including playoffs, with CSK kicking off against Kolkata Knight Riders in Chennai. The IPL features a two-group format. Within their assigned groups, teams will battle it out in double round-robin matches, ensuring they face each other twice. To add variety and further test their mettle, teams will also play a single match against every team from the opposing group.
The IPL’s partial schedule, released on February 22, outlined the initial set of 21 matches from March 22 to April 7. However, the full schedule awaited the announcement of India’s general election dates. In addition to the main home grounds, Visakhapatnam, Dharamsala, and Guwahati will also host matches as second homes for certain teams. Guwahati will host the season’s final league game on May 19.
