Bangladesh’s lower order batsmen have displayed notable contributions in recent matches against Sri Lanka, providing crucial runs and showcasing their ability beyond boundary hitting.
The trend began with impressive displays from Rishad Hossain and Taskin Ahmed in the third T20I in Sylhet on March 9. Taskin’s batting prowess was again evident in the second ODI in Chattogram, where his partnership with Towhid Hridoy proved vital in overcoming a middle order slowdown.
Taskin’s unbeaten 18 off 10 balls, which included two fours and a six, support Hridoy’s career best unbeaten 96. The Taskin’s earlier performance in the T20I, featuring three fours and two sixes, exemplified his batting prowess, while Rishad’s seven sixes set a new record.
Newcomer Tanzim Hasan Sakib further bolstered the lower order in the recent ODI, contributing a crucial 18 runs off 33 balls. His partnership with Hridoy, particularly after the loss of Mehidy Hasan Miraz, showcased mature strike rotation and sensible batting.
