Bangladesh’s veteran batsman Soumya Sarkar shone brightly in the second ODI against Sri Lanka in Chattogram on Friday. Sarkar, opening the innings, crucially laid the groundwork for his team’s innings before Wanindu Hasaranga dismissed him in the middle overs.

Soumya Sarkar showcased elegant stroke play, hitting eleven boundaries and a six, compiling a brisk 68 runs off just 66 balls. Among his impressive shots was a stunning uppercut for six off Lahiru Kumara.
The standout moment came in the 21st over when Soumya Sarkar, amidst a solid partnership following the early dismissals of Litton Das and Najmul Hossain Shanto, executed a perfectly timed uppercut off Kumara’s short delivery, sending the ball soaring over the third-man boundary.
His exquisite shot drew comparisons to the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, known for his mastery of the uppercut in the latter stages of his career.
In the context of the match, Mahmudullah fell victim to Hasaranga shortly after Soumya Sarkar’s dismissal. At the time of writing, Bangladesh stands at 160 for four, with Towhid Hridoy and Mushfiqur Rahim at the crease on 32* and 15*, respectively.
