In a notable decision, Delhi Capitals have brought in Australian power hitter Jake Fraser-McGurk as a replacement for the injured Lungi Ngidi ahead of the upcoming tournament. Fraser-McGurk, who earned his debut IPL contract at the base price of INR 50 Lakhs, caught the eye with his strong performances in both the Big Bash League (BBL) and ILT20.
Fraser-McGurk displayed his prowess with the bat at the Melbourne Renegades, scoring 257 runs. He maintained an average of 32.12 and an impressive strike rate of 158.64 during his time there. Transitioning to the ILT20 season in the UAE, he continued to shine for the Dubai Capitals. Accumulating 109 runs, he boasted an average of 36.33 and a remarkable strike rate of 213.72.
Despite Delhi Capitals already having a formidable top order featuring David Warner, Prithvi Shaw, and Mitchell Marsh, Fraser-McGurk may initially find himself on the sidelines. However, he remains ready to capitalize on any opportunity that arises due to inconsistent performances from the established players.
Captain Rishabh Pant is poised to reclaim his preferred number four position after recovering from injury, with Tristan Stubbs expected to step into the finisher role in the absence of Harry Brook. Kuldeep Yadav will lead the team’s spin department, while Anrich Nortje will spearhead the pace attack, supported by Mukesh Kumar and Khaleel Ahmed.
