Nunez Scores Twice as Liverpool Dominate Sparta Prague

The Reds demonstrated their ruthless attacking prowess, netting three goals before halftime to silence the home crowd in Prague.

The scoring spree began with Alexis Mac Allister converting a penalty in the sixth minute after he was brought down by Asger Sorensen.

Darwin Nunez extended Liverpool’s lead with a spectacular long-range strike, marking the club’s 1,000th goal under manager Jurgen Klopp. Nunez further solidified Liverpool’s advantage with his 16th goal of the season, a powerful shot from outside the box just before halftime.

Sparta Prague

Despite Sparta Prague’s attempts to mount a comeback, Liverpool’s goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher proved instrumental with crucial saves, including one that prevented Lukas Haraslin’s shot from finding the net.

Sparta Prague managed to pull one back early in the second half with an own goal from Liverpool’s Conor Bradley, but Luis Diaz quickly restored Liverpool’s three-goal lead with a deflected finish. Substitute Dominik Szoboszlai sealed the victory with a late goal.

With Mohamed Salah returning from injury as a substitute, Liverpool showcased their attacking prowess, although Salah had a goal disallowed for offside.

Looking ahead, Liverpool will be confident heading into the second leg at Anfield, scheduled for March 14th.

Salah’s return and Liverpool’s impressive performance provide a boost ahead of their crucial clash against Manchester City. Klopp will hope to manage any lingering injury concerns as Liverpool prepare for their upcoming fixtures.
