During their recent clash against Karachi Kings in the ongoing PSL, officials flagged Quetta Gladiators’ mystery spinner Usman Tariq for a suspect bowling action. However, this report doesn’t lead to an immediate suspension from bowling. Tariq can continue bowling until authorities conduct a thorough bowling action test at a PCB-approved facility. Nonetheless, any further reports during the PSL will restrict him from bowling in subsequent matches.

Usman Tariq, making his debut in the PSL this season, has garnered attention as one of the tournament’s unconventional spinners. His unique delivery style, characterized by a near complete halt before unleashing offspinners with a slinging, side-arm action, has earned him moderate success, notably reflected in his economical bowling figures, conceding at 5.73 runs per over across three matches.
Despite Quetta Gladiators boasting the talent of Abrar Ahmed, considered one of Pakistan’s premier spin bowlers, Usman Tariq has featured prominently in three of their games. The team’s overall performance has been commendable, securing four victories in six matches and inching closer to a playoff berth for the first time in five years.
As for scheduling Tariq’s bowling action test, authorities have yet to confirm details. Pakistan has an ICC-accredited biomechanics laboratory in Lahore. However, with the remaining PSL fixtures in Karachi and Rawalpindi, uncertainties loom over Usman Tariq travel requirements before the tournament concludes.
