Jordan Henderson Eyes Premature Al-Ettifaq Exit, Potential Loan Move Poses Financial Setback for Liverpool

Former Liverpool Captain Jordan Henderson seeks an early departure from Al-Ettifaq, with Ajax and Juventus interested, but a loan move could impact Liverpool’s financial gains.

Jordan Henderson’s desire to cut short his stint with Al-Ettifaq in the Saudi Pro League may have financial implications for Liverpool, especially if he secures a temporary move.

Having left Liverpool last summer, Henderson appears dissatisfied with his experience in the Middle East, and a loan departure is on the horizon. Reportedly linked with potential moves to Ajax or Juventus, the midfielder is more likely to join Ajax despite late interest from Juventus.

Ajax aims to secure Henderson’s services to improve their challenging season, while Juventus is also in the mix, offering an 18-month loan deal with a clause allowing termination at the end of the current campaign if deemed necessary.

However, both Ajax and Juventus are inclined to pay only a fraction of Henderson’s substantial wages, avoiding a loan fee. This situation does not align with Liverpool’s preferences, as they had hoped for a permanent departure for their former captain.

If Henderson were to leave Al-Ettifaq permanently, Liverpool stands to benefit from the sell-on clause in his contract. Yet, the likelihood of a permanent exit remains low, as Liverpool insists on receiving proposals exceeding the £12 million they paid for Henderson.

Despite Henderson’s optimism about working under the management of fellow Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard at Al-Ettifaq, the team’s performance has been disappointing, contributing to Henderson’s desire for a change.
