Kylian Mbappe has reportedly forgone ‘tens of millions’ in bonuses, aiming to ease his possible exit from Paris Saint-Germain.

Reports suggest that Kylian Mbappe, the French forward, has foregone significant bonuses, estimated at around 60 to 70 million euros ($65.6 million to $76.6 million), as part of an agreement reached with Paris Saint-Germain last summer. This move is perceived to ease the financial burden for the club in the event of his anticipated departure when his contract concludes in June.
Since the commencement of the transfer window this week, Mbappe has been open to signing with any club of his choice.
While certain reports indicated an 80 million euro ‘loyalty’ bonus slated for last September and additional bonuses totaling 100 million euros, a source closely tied to the negotiations refuted these figures.
In a statement following PSG’s triumph in the Champions Trophy on Wednesday, Mbappe emphasized the importance of the agreement reached with the club’s president, highlighting its significance in safeguarding all parties involved and securing stability for the club’s future challenges.
This arrangement essentially shields PSG should Mbappe opt to leave upon the expiration of his contract without necessitating a transfer fee.
According to Le Parisien, Mbappe’s 2022 contract guaranteed an annual salary of 72 million euros, a substantial signing bonus of 150 million euros, and a loyalty bonus, escalating from 70 million euros in the first year to 90 million euros in the third.
By remaining at PSG until June without extending his tenure, Mbappe could have secured payments exceeding 200 million euros. In a probable transfer devoid of transfer fees, he could expect considerable compensation in the form of a substantial signing-on bonus from any potential club in the upcoming summer.
Mbappe’s representatives offered no immediate comment when contacted by AFP, while PSG has refrained from making any official statement.
